&lt;p&gt;I had some extra bulgar wheat on hand from making tabouli a few days ago and decided to put it to good use. Bulgar wheat has a light nutty flavor and is a great alternative to pasta or rice. It’s also much easier to make than quinoa as it requires no rinsing or cooking. I find that bulgar wheat tastes better using the “no-cook” method. Just combine equal parts bulgar wheat and water and let sit for an hour, or until all water is absorbed. Make a big batch ahead of time and use throughout the week as a side dish and/or in salads.
